My Ideal Corporation

This is a rough cut of how, at this point in time, I would want any corporation I make to be run. I’m hoping that as I continue writing in the days, weeks, maybe months to come, things will be molded into something I actually pursue:

-A 30 hour work week, 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, flexible work schedule, 2+ months off a year.
-Career mobility encouraged, allowed to change jobs at least once a year.
-Low wages, high benefits
-High usage of technology
-Housing provided, preferably within the same complex/campus, but within walking distance or transportation provided by company (but still very close-by, value being that a person’s life isn’t wasted commuting). Permanent housing provided after X number of years worked.
-3 meals provided for employee(s) & their family.
-Personal training & gyms provided
-Laundry service provided at cost
-Centralized trash service
-Fiber optics communication
-Shared economy within workplace/housing: tools, books/textbooks, etc.
-Green living encouraged: renewable energy sources, greywater systems, intra-building heat transfers
-Full health care benefits.
-Debt forgiveness (company takes on employee’s debt and makes separate loan covenant with employee, taking it out of pay @ no interest, but with penalties if employee terminated or leaves before loan term)
-a company bank to deal with a company currency to manage all benefits

If the company grows in size:
-Technology becomes more pervasive in daily life as company grows.
-On campus hospitals (employees of hospital join the same system described above)
-On campus groceries, farm, restaurants (same thing as hospitals, employees join same system)
-On campus schools (employees join the same system)

Basically, I envision a small municipality, but well designed, with a low footprint on the environment and as much stress taken out of normal life as possible. This way, employees can be more productive in the shorter time that they do work, employees can be encouraged to take care of their health and to spend more time with their friends and families.

Further, a company culture where relationships and integrity are valued. And one where people are encouraged to try different jobs out and to also switch between jobs on a periodic basis (especially if at a lower skill level), so in a way, explore their passions. However, with high job mobility, discipleship and apprenticeship would have to be implemented as the preferred method of skill transfers.

I think that the technological revolution we’re going through right now is great, but I see it working best in a tight localized market. Technology is helping us live more efficient lives, but with technology being designed for such a large, diverse swath of people, it’s not as efficient as it could be. Within a corporation, these technological improvements could be melded to provide a seamless experience for all. Some may say that this is a vision of socialism and perhaps to some extent, it is.
